It's the most wonderful week of the year—at least for dumpling lovers! PDX Dumpling Week 2026 is here, and I couldn't be more excited. This is hands-down my favorite food event in Portland, and for good reason.
For seven glorious days (February 15-21, 2026), over 40 restaurants across Portland showcase their best dumplings, from traditional Chinese potstickers to creative fusion creations, Nepalese momos to Italian ravioli, and everything deliciously in between.
Whether you're a longtime Portland resident, just moved to Portland, or visiting from Vancouver, WA, this is your chance to explore Portland's incredible food scene one dumpling at a time. Let's dig in!
What is PDX Dumpling Week?
Now in its 12th year, PDX Dumpling Week is a citywide celebration that brings Portlanders together to explore dumplings in every imaginable form. Think of it as Portland's love letter to the dumpling—that perfect little package of dough wrapped around deliciousness.
Started as a grassroots effort to support local restaurants and celebrate Portland's diverse food culture, Dumpling Week has grown into one of the city's most anticipated annual events. It's sponsored by Downtown Portland Clean & Safe, Rad Color Lab, and OverEasy Agency.
How It Works
Simple: Participating restaurants create special dumpling dishes available only during Dumpling Week (February 15-21, 2026). You explore, eat, repeat. There's no pass to buy, no tickets required—just show up hungry and ready to explore.
Some restaurants offer dine-in only, others do takeout, and many offer both plus delivery through services like GrubHub, DoorDash, and Uber Eats. This makes it easy to plan dumpling crawls with friends or enjoy cozy dumpling nights at home.
🌟 Cassandra's Can't-Miss Picks for 2026
I've been doing Dumpling Week for years, and these are my absolute favorites—the places I return to every single year plus exciting new discoveries. Trust me on these!
Mama Chow's Kitchen
Curry Chicken Wonton
This is THE spot. Seriously, there's always a line during Dumpling Week, and for good reason. Mama Chow's has been a Portland favorite for years, and their Dumpling Week special never disappoints.
This Year's Special: Turmeric, bonito bone broth, daikon radish, bok choy, green onion curl, red chili thread. The broth alone is worth the wait.
📍 3757 SE Hawthorne Blvd., Portland, OR 97214
💡 Cas' Tip: Get there early or expect a wait, especially on weekends. It's worth it. Also shares a space with Nice Time, so you can enjoy dumplings from both!
Boke Bowl
Sichuan-style Duck Wontons
If you love bold, spicy flavors, Boke Bowl is your spot. Their duck wontons with cilantro, black vinegar, and Boke chili crunch oil are absolutely phenomenal—rich, complex, and perfectly balanced.
📍 1028 SE Water Ave. Ste. 120, Portland, OR 97214
💡 Cas' Tip: Order through their delivery apps if you can't make it in person—these travel well and the flavors are just as good at home.
Frank's Noodle House
Handmade Pork & Leek Dumplings
Frank's does everything from scratch, and you can taste the difference. Their handmade dumplings feature savory pork perfectly complemented by fragrant leek, with soft, elastic dumpling skins that offer a satisfying chew.
What makes them special: The tender pork and aromatic leek filling is rich and flavorful—classic done right.
📍 822 NE Broadway, Portland OR
💡 Cas' Tip: This is dine-in only, so plan accordingly. Watch them make the dumplings—it's part of the experience!
North 45
Boozy Peach Pie Empanadas
Who says dumplings have to be savory? North 45's dessert empanadas are absolutely decadent—peach pie filling wrapped in crispy empanada dough, served with blackberry ricotta whip and house-made bourbon caramel sauce.
Perfect for: Ending your dumpling crawl on a sweet, slightly boozy note.
📍 517 NW 21st Ave, Portland, OR 97209
💡 Cas' Tip: Pair this with a cocktail from their excellent bar program for the ultimate indulgence.
Farmhouse Thai Kitchen
Zapp Zapp Wonton
Farmhouse is back again this year with their Zapp Zapp Wontons—handmade dumplings in spicy Tom Yum chili paste with organic pork, shrimp, Chinese broccoli, lemongrass, kaffir lime, and cilantro.
Honest review: I tried these last year and they were just okay—not bad, but not my favorite. That said, Farmhouse has two locations and plenty of fans, so definitely worth trying if you love Thai flavors!
📍 3354 SE Hawthorne Blvd. & 121 NW 9th Ave., Portland, OR
Kachka
Chicken Pel-migiana
Only Kachka could create "Chicken Pel-migiana"—fried chicken pelmeni dumplings smothered in satsebeli walnut marinara, smoked sulguni cheese, and basil. It's Russian meets Italian in the best possible way.
📍 960 SE 11th Ave. Portland, OR 97214
💡 Cas' Tip: Kachka's sister restaurant Kachka Fabrika is also participating with Clam Chowder Vareniki—check out both!

📋 Cassandra's Dumpling Week Strategy
After years of doing this, I've developed a system. Here's how to maximize your Dumpling Week experience and hit all your must-try spots without burning out (or breaking the bank).
🗓️ Plan Your Week
Don't try to do everything in one or two days. Spread it out! I typically plan 2-3 dumpling stops per day, mixing sit-down dinners with quick takeout lunches. Check restaurant hours—some are dine-in only, some offer takeout, and hours vary.
📍 Map Your Route
Group restaurants by location to save time and gas. Hawthorne Blvd alone has Mama Chow's, Farmhouse Thai, Nice Time, Bamboo House, and Lardo. That's a perfect dumpling crawl route! Check out my Portland neighborhood guide for areas.
⏰ Beat the Rush
Popular spots like Mama Chow's get packed during prime dinner hours (6-8pm) and all day on weekends. Go early (4-5pm) or late (after 8:30pm) for shorter waits. Weekday lunches are also less crowded.
👥 Go With Friends
Dumpling Week is perfect for groups! Order different dishes and share so everyone can try more variety. Plus, it's way more fun to explore together. Just make sure everyone's on the same page about spice tolerance!
💰 Budget Smart
Dumpling Week dishes range from $8-$15 typically, which is very reasonable. Set a budget and prioritize your must-try spots. Mix expensive sit-down dinners with affordable takeout options to balance your spending.
📸 Document Your Journey
Take photos, keep notes on what you loved, and share on social media! Tag restaurants and use #PDXDumplingWeek. It's fun to look back and remember favorites for next year. Plus, restaurants appreciate the love!
🚗 Parking Tips
Downtown and inner SE Portland can be tough for parking. Use parking apps like ParkMobile, arrive early, or consider using public transit. Many dumpling spots are near MAX stops or bus lines. Plan for weather if taking transit!
🥡 Takeout Strategy
Many dumplings travel well! Order takeout from 2-3 places and have a dumpling feast at home. Fried dumplings stay crispy for about 30 minutes. Soup dumplings should be eaten immediately. Steamed dumplings reheat beautifully.
🌶️ Know Your Spice Level
Sichuan, Thai, and Korean dumplings can be SPICY. If you're sensitive to heat, ask about spice levels when ordering. Most places are happy to adjust or recommend milder options. Don't let spice fear stop you—start mild and work your way up!
Why Dumpling Week Matters to Our Community
As someone who helps people move to Portland and relocate to Vancouver, WA, I always tell clients about events like Dumpling Week. Here's why it matters:
Supporting Local Restaurants
Portland's restaurant scene is incredible, but it's also competitive. Events like Dumpling Week drive traffic to local businesses, especially smaller family-owned spots that don't have huge marketing budgets. Your dumpling adventure directly supports local jobs and keeps our food scene thriving.
Celebrating Diversity
Dumpling Week showcases Portland's incredible cultural diversity. From Nepalese momos to Russian pelmeni, Vietnamese wontons to Italian ravioli—dumplings are a universal love language that brings our community together.
Exploring Neighborhoods
This event gives you a reason to explore parts of Portland you might not normally visit. Discover new neighborhoods, find hidden gems, and get to know the diverse areas that make Portland special. It's especially valuable if you're new to the area or considering where to buy a home in Vancouver or Portland.
Building Community
There's something special about thousands of Portlanders all participating in the same delicious adventure. You'll run into friends, make new ones standing in line, and bond with strangers over shared dumpling recommendations. It's Portland at its best.
Vancouver, WA Residents: Here's Your Plan
Living in Vancouver doesn't mean you have to miss out! Here's how to make Dumpling Week work from north of the river:
Grassa in Vancouver
Good news—Grassa has a location in Vancouver, WA (780 Waterfront Way)! Their Broken Dumplings (ginger scallion pork, black vinegar, ponzu, crispy wonton) are participating in Dumpling Week. You can enjoy the event without crossing the bridge.
Plan a Portland Dumpling Day Trip
Make a day of it! Drive down to Portland (it's only 15-20 minutes from Vancouver), hit 3-4 dumpling spots, explore neighborhoods, and enjoy the adventure. Weekday trips mean less traffic and easier parking.
Order Delivery
Many participating restaurants deliver through DoorDash, Uber Eats, and GrubHub. Some will deliver to Vancouver—check the apps to see your options. Perfect for rainy days when you don't want to drive.
Combine with Other Activities
Pair your dumpling adventure with other Portland activities—shopping, museums, Powell's Books, or weekend events. Make it a full Portland experience!

Whether you're a longtime Portlander, new to the area, visiting from Vancouver, or considering a move to the Pacific Northwest, Dumpling Week is a perfect introduction to what makes our food scene so special.
My plan? I'm hitting Mama Chow's opening weekend (I know, I know—the line will be long, but it's tradition!), doing a Hawthorne crawl mid-week, trying some new spots I haven't been to before, and finishing strong with Boke Bowl's duck wontons. I might even convince friends to do a dessert dumpling night featuring North 45's boozy empanadas and Satellite Tavern's cheesecake rangoons.
Mark your calendars: February 15-21, 2026. Seven days, 40+ restaurants, unlimited dumpling possibilities.
See you in the dumpling lines! 🥟
