A beautiful spring weekend featuring blooming tulip fields, farm fun, garden learning, sustainable fashion, and big ideas in the Rose City.

Spring is fully here, and this weekend across Southwest Washington and Portland is proof. Whether you’re looking to capture stunning family photos in a tulip field, get your downward dog on next to baby goats, learn to grow your own strawberries, refresh your wardrobe sustainably, or spend a day absorbing some of the most inspiring ideas of the year — this weekend has something worth showing up for.

If you’re newer to the area, weekends like this are exactly why people fall in love with the Pacific Northwest. The tulip farms, the farm culture, the Portland event scene — it’s a lifestyle that’s hard to beat. Here are five events worth knowing about this weekend.

Tulip Field Mini Sessions at Woodland Tulip Festival

📅Sunday, April 12, 2026
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM PDT
📍Woodland Tulip Festival, 1090 S Pekin Rd, Woodland, WA 98674
💲$150 per session ($50 non-refundable retainer to book)

Tulip Field Mini Sessions

If you’ve been dreaming about getting those stunning spring photos of your kids or family in a real tulip field, this is your weekend. Life Captured by Tiffany is hosting Tulip Field Mini Sessions at the Woodland Tulip Festival, and the setting doesn’t get more gorgeous than this for a Pacific Northwest spring shoot.

Each session is 15–20 minutes and includes a flash drive of all edited images plus an online sneak peek gallery. At $150 per session (with a $50 retainer to hold your spot), it’s a solid investment in memories that’ll last far longer than the bloom. And yes — it’s rain or shine, so don’t let the Pacific Northwest weather talk you out of it.

What to Expect

  • 15–20 minute professional photography mini session in a tulip field
  • Flash drive of all edited images included
  • Online sneak peek gallery after your session
  • $150 per session | $50 non-refundable retainer to reserve
  • Rain or shine — the tulips don't cancel, and neither does Tiffany

💡 Pro Tip from a Local

Tulip season in the Pacific Northwest is short and beautiful — and slots like these fill up. If you’ve been putting off family photos, this is one of those rare opportunities where the backdrop does half the work. Dress in coordinating (not matching) outfits and avoid busy patterns for the cleanest look against the blooms.

It’s joyful, silly, and genuinely one of those things you’ll be telling people about for weeks.

Each session includes time after class to relax, connect, and enjoy the farm. All proceeds support Rocking B Farms’ nonprofit mission — they’ve rescued 500+ animals and offer tours, camps, parties, and events that bring families together through animals and nature. 💡 Pro Tip from a Local

Sign up ahead of time — these classes are genuinely popular and spots go quickly. Wear comfortable yoga clothes you don’t mind getting a little muddy or nibbled on (goats will be goats). And plan to stay after class to wander the farm — it’s worth the extra time.

Grow Your Own Strawberries Workshop

📅Saturday, April 11, 2026
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
📍Heritage Farm, 1919 NE 78th St, Vancouver, WA
💲$10 (ticketed at $13.61 with fees)

Grow Your Own Strawberries Workshop

There’s something deeply satisfying about eating strawberries you grew yourself — and this Saturday, the WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardeners are making it easier than ever to get started. Their introductory strawberry growing workshop walks you through everything you need to know, from the three different types of strawberries to planting techniques, care, and common pests and diseases.

Best of all, you’ll take home a bareroot strawberry plant to get started with immediately. At just $10 for a 90-minute hands-on workshop with experts, this is one of the best deals of the weekend. The class is held outdoors at Heritage Farm, so dress for the weather and bring water. Those with mobility issues can drive into the site.

What to Expect

  • Introductory workshop on growing strawberries from WSU Master Gardeners
  • Learn the three types of strawberries and how to care for each
  • Pests, diseases, and planting techniques covered
  • Take home a bareroot strawberry plant to start your own garden
  • Held outdoors at Heritage Farm — dress for the weather

💡 Pro Tip from a Local

WSU Master Gardener workshops are some of the best-kept secrets for new and experienced gardeners alike — the instruction is genuinely expert-level, and the price is always reasonable. Bring a bag to carry your starter plant home in, and wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Questions from other participants make these classes even better, so don’t be shy.

The Biggest Clothing Swap in The Northwest

📅Sunday, April 12, 2026
12:00 PM
📍McMenamins Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W Burnside St, Portland, OR 97209
💲Bring a bag of clothes to swap — free to participate

The Biggest Clothing Swap in The Northwest

This one is a Portland classic — and it’s held at one of the best venues in the city. The Biggest Clothing Swap in The Northwest takes over the McMenamins Crystal Ballroom, and the concept is brilliantly simple: bring a bag of clean, wearable clothes you’re ready to part with, drop them off at the intake table, and then shop the floor for new-to-you pieces using your empty bag. It’s sustainable fashion at its most fun.

The swap operates on an honor system — you take home roughly what you brought in, plus a little extra if you find things you love. Sizes XS–XL are on the third floor, and plus sizes (2XL and up) have their own dedicated space on the second floor. Shoes and accessories are on both floors. It’s all-ages, free to participate, and an absolute blast for anyone who loves fashion without the guilt of fast fashion spending.

What to Expect

  • Bring clean, wearable clothes in a sturdy bag — shop what others bring in
  • Sizes XS–XL on the third floor; plus sizes (2XL+) on the second floor
  • Shoes and accessories available on both floors
  • Honor system bag-for-bag swap — take home what you bring, plus a little more
  • All-ages event at the iconic Crystal Ballroom in downtown Portland

💡 Pro Tip from a Local

The more you bring, the more you can take home — so go through your closet honestly before you come. Pack a sturdy tote or duffle (no flimsy bags). Clothes must be clean, wearable, free of holes and odors, and no underwear, socks, or children’s clothing. Arrive early for the best selection, and bring a friend — it’s much more fun with someone to shop with.

TEDxPortland – Year 14

📅Saturday, April 11, 2026
8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
📍Portland Center Stage at The Armory, 128 NW 11th Ave, Portland, OR 97209
💲Tickets at tedxportland.com

TEDxPortland – Year 14

TEDxPortland is back for Year 14, and it returns to the stage where it all started — Portland Center Stage at The Armory in the Pearl District. This is one of the most inspiring days on the Portland calendar, featuring 13 speakers and four live performances across a full day that runs from 8am to 6pm. If you’ve ever walked away from a TED talk feeling like something shifted in how you see the world, this is that feeling — live, in community, in your city.

This year’s theme centers on homecoming: honoring roots, welcoming new perspectives, and recognizing the power of ideas to carry a community forward. Every ticket includes an award-winning event book, morning coffee and tea, and a happy hour and ice cream reception at Keller Park to close out the day. Travel Portland lists this as an Editor’s Pick — and it’s well earned.

What to Expect

  • 13 speakers and 4 live performances across a full day
  • Award-winning event book included with every ticket
  • Morning coffee and tea provided
  • Happy hour and ice cream reception at Keller Park to end the day
  • Held at the historic Armory in Portland’s Pearl District — an Editor’s Pick

💡 Pro Tip from a Local

TEDxPortland is a full day, so treat it like one. Wear comfortable clothes, bring a notebook (ideas will come fast), and don’t skip the happy hour — the conversations you have with other attendees at the end of the day are often just as valuable as the talks themselves. The Pearl District has great brunch spots if you want to make a morning of it before doors open.
